Dhadak – Movie Review – A Tragic Love Story

th

Dhadak is an official Hindi adaptation of the Marathi Movie “Sairat” and stars newcomer Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles

A week before the release, I saw the movie “Sairat”.  It was good but I didn’t feel any emotional connection. Dhadak managed to do that.

Some scenes in Dhadak are same as in Sairat and some scenes are newly added to it. In Sairat, the beginning scene is a Cricket match whereas, in Dhadak, it is an Eating Competition.

A Touching Tribute in the beginning to versatile actress Sridevi by her daughter Janhvi Kapoor.

Recently, I happened to see the movie ‘MOM’,  she truly deserved the National Film Awards 2018  for her brilliant acting performance.

The film set in Rajasthan, this love story explores how the protagonists deal with issues like differences between castes and honor killings.

Locations – Udaipur, Mumbai, Nagpur, and Kolkata are beautifully shot.

Fantabulous direction by Shashank Khaitan.  Loved his earlier movies – Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath ki Dulhania. His movies have a strong message to convey to the audience. This is his strongest directorial movie. Mind-blowing performances by Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar. Their chemistry is crackling. And while the two take the film forward with absolute confidence, it is the supporting crew that makes the world believable. Lovely performances by his friends and Ashutosh Rana deserves a special mention for his acting.

In Sairat, parents of boy’s side were not given any importance. In Dhadak, they are given importance and would make us feel the protagonists love for their parents.

After eloping, how the lovers survive in the new city is beautifully captured. Both of them explores every emotion in this movie and makes you feel it.

All the songs are awesome- “Zingaat” stands out with a foot-tapping choreography.

The climax will leave you speechless which is a bit different from Sairat.

With an entertaining first half and an equally intense second half, Dhadak is a tragic romance film.

This Movie truly makes your heart beat…
